The Black Neon Tetra, or Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi, is a good hardy fish. It doesn't need much attention, other than observation and feeding. They need water with a temperature from 74 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, they like slightly acid to neutral water, with a pH between 5.6 and 7.5. It can be difficult to distinguish the two sexes, but females tend to be larger. Having a pH level of six will encourage the Black Neon Tetras to breed, as well as giving them live food. They will scatter their eggs.
